The vilification of the immediate family members of Adrianna Younge is particularly abhorrent. It is also clear, that there are narratives being pushed by certain quarters. Such as her grandmother "sold her" etc. What is particularly disturbing, is that these good citizens, conveniently ignore the role of the Guyana Police Force in all of this.
Why these folks are not decrying the glaring fact of the police deliberately muddying the case from the very beginning. Those involved in the deliberate false reporting, must be charged? They could have easily caused harm to an innocent party. This makes one stop and think about how many innocent people have been not only falsely accused, but charged for crimes they did not commit. Their only crime being that they are poor and unconnected. One is clear, Police Commissioner Hicken and Divisional Commander Khalid Mandall must be held accountable.
It is not a secret that Guyana has the grand puppeteer pulling the marionettes strings. Among peaceful protestors, there are always criminal elements. Such elements who seek to loot and destroy must be condemned in no uncertain manner. However, there are darker elements who appear to be adhering to a Machiavellian agenda, at work.
This is evident from the moment only Guyanese Critic, an ambulance chaser with a camera who has seemingly unfettered access to specific government officials, was allowed in the Double Day Hotel to film the empty pool. Is it not odd that this "reporter" and I use the term very loosely, has been allowed to traverse where bona fide members of the media and family members were not? WHY was this the case?
Fast forward to the scene outside of the Georgetown Public Hospital where Arianna's father, family members and others gathered to await the post mortem results. A group of miscreants on motorcycles, their faces covered showed up and began to cause trouble throwing missiles etc. The Guyana Police Forces once again responded by firing live rounds.
Then we have the terrible incident at Chateau Margot with the acid being thrown on school children and teachers. Not unsurprisingly, allegations are that the perpetrator was Afro-Guyanese. Race baiting, has long been a part of the history of Guyana. It began with the colonial masters pitting indentured labourers against ex-slaves. In the furtherance of their own agendas, politicians in Guyana, have continued unabated to fuel this, especially in election periods.
There are pockets of fires in predominantly Afro areas being started by these gangs of miscreants. Who is the hand rocking the cradle? Are they being paid and instructed so that a particular course of action may be taken? Whom does it benefit, to stir things up, to regain ground being lost because people from every strata are tired of corruption and only the friends and family gaining?
A nation came together across the all divides to mourn the loss of an innocent 11 year-old and to call for justice. In so doing, many of the ills and the corruption in the police force and by extension the government, are being exposed.
Step in Machiavelli. There could not be a better opportunity for ground loss to be regained by having criminal elements, perhaps paid, to stoke dissention among Afro and Indo Guyanese once more. We cannot allow some bad faith actors who are being manipulated to send us further down the divided road. The PPP government is the only one that benefits from this. Poor and unconnected Guyanese are always the losers.
The play book is open. Fires are likely being deliberately set in specific communities. These will no doubt stress resources already in short supply. Then there is video footage of the Ahmad brothers owners of the private Sheriff Security Services and well-known affiliates of the PPP government, driving around the city and allegedly shooting at people. Shades of Roger Khan and the Phantom Squad not so long ago. Remember that Phantom Squad too was affiliated with the PPP.
Of course this is all designed and allows for the government to then implement curfews, thus also curtailing the peaceful protests holding it accountable and to which the people are entitled
Given the foregoing, then cue the outrage and along with it the opposition outcry with respect to the government not being in control and needing to step down. The government then feeds on the exisiting mistrust and uses that as a catalyst to galvanise its supporters against the Afro-
Guyanese bogeyman.
We cannot allow ourselves to go down this rabbit hole yet again. Let this loss of an innocent life not be in vain. Instead, let us come together and demand REAL CHANGE. Let us unite in demanding accountability from the government and its agents. For this must be urged by every right- minded Guyanese irrespective of race, status or creed. We cannot continue along this path leading to self-destruction.

So now we see the light (what you gon' do?)
We going to stand up for our right (yeah, yeah, yeah)" -Bob Marley
